Dear Reader,
Last month, I wrote a series of blog posts to help you transform your life by asking yourself important questions. Now, as September draws to a close, I want to go deeper with a series of posts about you – as a soul. And I want to clear up one important point right away – you do not have a soul.
You are a soul.
This one shift in awareness can change your whole life. You can never be disconnected from your soul, because that is what you are. It may feel like you are disconnected from your soul awareness; in fact, you might spend most of your time that way. Why? Because you (as a soul) are experiencing life as a human being, and the human outlook, although much less visionary than the soul view, is immediate and powerful.
Shift into your soul awareness, and you will see the world – and your own path – very differently.
That process is what we will focus on in this series of blog posts. I am not mainly interested in a theoretical discussion on the nature of the soul. I am passionate about how to live as a soul in this world of ours. It is the most important thing we can do, ever.
It is misleading to refer to “your soul,” because it sounds as if the soul is something you have. We tend to think of ourselves as our mind, our conscious awareness, the “I” that sleeps, eats, goes to work and takes walks. That “I” awareness is also part of you, an important part – but not the most important or most powerful part. Your body is part of you. Your mind is part of you. None of those parts are separate.
You are a soul.
You could think of your soul awareness as a bigger, deeper, and fuller than your familiar, conscious “I” awareness. Your soul awareness sees the “aerial view,” as Clarissa Pinkola Estes calls it, and it can provide your conscious awareness with messages, subtle and not so subtle, about your best next steps in life. But those messages can easily be overlooked, ignored or simply not recognized for what they are. Lets face it, as a society, we are not used to calling on soul awareness for guidance and support. In fact, a general lack of soul is perhaps the biggest problem we face today.
That needs to change. Now.
Somewhere deep down, we know better.
We each intuitively know that we are something bigger than our everyday awareness, and we long to live from that place. It is often not encouraged, and as a result, often not easy to do.
That is why I do the work I do, and why I am writing this series of posts. Over the next several days, as October approaches, we will focus together on you as a soul, and how to see through your soul’s eyes.
Let the journey begin!
I honor your loving heart,
John
