Dear Reader,
It all started when I was singing in the shower this morning. I noticed how much better I felt – more alert, more alive and more ready to make high energy choices. Later, as I was walking to one of my favorite cafe-writing spots, I realized that singing creates an expression of energy. We absolutely need to do this, on a daily basis. Why?
First of all, I want to distinguish between an “expression of energy” and an “expending of energy.” An expression of energy – like singing or dancing – releases energy in a conscious way that supports, uplifts and actually raises your overall energy level. An expending of energy, on the other hand – like worrying about how the meeting will go, or rushing to get somewhere because you are late – releases energy in an uncontrolled way that does not replace itself and does not support or uplift you. In fact, it drains you.
When we do express energy on a daily basis, we raise our overall energy level and feel better. We also create an outward flow of energy that creates the space for an incoming flow of energy, which enables us to receive in our lives.
This ability, dear reader, is huge.
We must be able to receive freely in order to create what we most want in life. We must be able to receive freely in order to give freely.
All that from singing in the shower?! Yes! In last week’s post, I reminded you to find time for a random dance during your day. That dance is another expression of energy. No matter what form of expression you use – and each of you will have your own preferences – you accomplish the same thing: an expressive flow in your day that raises your awareness, energy level and receptivity.
So if you didn’t dance last week (I really hope you did…) you can sing this week! Or write, or arrange some beautiful flowers – you know what it takes, and what it feels like, for you to express energy. Just make sure you do it fully, for the full benefit. It just may carry you forward to an excellent year!
I honor your loving heart,
John
