Dear Reader,
Yesterday, we threw open the windows, got out the vacuum cleaner (or hoover, as they say here in the UK) got a big garbage bag and cleaned our house! Nothing like some serious cleaning to feel lighter as we move forward into the heart of Spring. Have you done your cleaning yet?
If you haven’t, I highly recommend it. Not only does it clear away dirt and old remnants on a physical level, energetically a vigorous cleaning addresses the emotional, mental and spiritual levels as well. When I said before that you will feel lighter, I meant more “light-filled”, literally. You may feel more energetic, more clear-minded, more at peace, more curious, more imaginative, more inspired – I could go on.
I also suggest putting on some great music to clean to. I don’t know what that will be for you, but for us it was Hawaiian music. IZ, Keali’i Reichel, a little bit of everything. Hawaiian music tends to be filled with love, and when you clean your living space – you are treating it with love. A perfect fit, wouldn’t you say? In turn, your space can hold you with love. It’s that simple.
Not only are you creating a clean, joy-filled space to live in with a spring cleaning, you are taking advantage of the change in seasons. Living in step with the seasons is an important element of living intuitively. You are following nature’s lead for renewal, and opening your intuitive channels to allow in new insight. You are leaving behind the dark and cold of winter for the sweet air of spring, and making that shift in a very physical way helps you to move forward with new vision, no matter what your experience of the year has been like so far.
Of course, you can expand the ritual beyond your home…
What do you need to clean from your body? Louise ordered a juicer recently, which arrived last week. So I have been drinking a little more fresh juice, and a little less coffee. Feels great!
What do you need to clean from your mind? My early morning meditation practice last week, along with my “media fast,” helped me feel much more present and aware of my experience each day, and helped to de-clutter my thinking. As a result, I accomplished much more last week. Even better, what I accomplished was more of the important stuff.
Those shifts have carried over to this week. I am more energized, and more excited to start each day. Have I convinced you yet?! I hope so dear reader. If you haven’t already – get out there and clean!
I honor your loving heart,
John
