Dear Reader,
Last week, I wrote about how your ancestors can be an excellent source of intuitive guidance. I want to expand on that possibility to include heroes and iconic figures you may have never met. Obvious sources of guidance include religious figures such as Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, Mother Teresa and Yogananda. Other sources might include great visionaries like Rumi, William Blake, Krishnamurti or Martin Luther King.
For me, Edgar Cayce, the “sleeping prophet,” is a source of inspiration and intuitive vision. Any famous person in your field of interest can provide the same. If you are in law, call on Clarence Darrow for guidance. If you are in business, call on Andrew Carnegie. If you are a dancer – ask Fred Astaire to help you out!
Asking is key. If you are stuck or looking for direction, ask for guidance from someone who deeply inspires you. Take a few moments to get quiet. Be at peace, feel gratitude for being alive, and be open to receive. Hold loosely in your mind’s eye the situation for which you are seeking direction, and ask your hero for guidance. Maintain your relaxed state, hold an image of that person, or their essence, in your mind, and see what comes to you.
It may be a simple thought or an idea. It may be an image or a bit of song. It may be a feeling of warmth and confidence, or a jolt of inspiration. You may not feel anything right away, and that’s fine. Pay attention over the next twenty four to forty eight hours, and repeat the exercise. Something may come later.
The bottom line, dear reader, is that thoughts, feelings, inspiration, creativity and intuitive guidance are all energy. The great figures who have walked before us have expanded the possibilities for all human beings, and that’s what good intuitive guidance does – it expands your possibilities. So feel free to tap into their energy; it is there for you still. Put a picture of Eleanor Roosevelt up on your wall if you feel a strong connection to her. Read a biography of Abraham Lincoln or Benjamin Franklin if they inspire you. Then ask for guidance – and see what happens!
I honor your loving heart,
John
