Dear Reader,
I usually only post once a week, on Tuesday, but I have been thinking of you – all of you who read my blog – a lot over the last few days. I am truly grateful that we are able to connect through these blog posts.
Yesterday morning I woke up very early, at 4:00a.m., in love with life. It didn’t register until I got up, had a cup of coffee and was standing at the kitchen sink doing dishes – one of my most creative times! We have a wonderful view from our kitchen window – boats at the pier, taxis lined up to take people to their destinations, the fort, the clock tower, and the quaint stone buildings lining Lerwick Harbor.
As I felt the warm water on my hands, I relaxed, looked out the window and watched the morning light change over the town. It was one of those perfect moments of peace and presence – and all it took was my slowing down and allowing life in.
Often we keep out the direct experience of life with a well-constructed wall. What is that wall made of?
Thought.
Our minds race, we plan our day, we turn those pressing problems waiting for us over and over looking for solutions, or we remember yet again those times we think we fell short. All that mental effort really does is keep us from falling in love with life as it is, right now, outside our window.
Sometime during those moments standing at the sink doing dishes, I thought of you all and wanted to share the experience.
May you be happy and peaceful.
May you be healthy.
May you live with joy and ease.
And may you all, at the right moments and in your own way, allow life in.
I honor your loving heart,
John

You’re right…. it is the life of joy and ease….and thank you for writing an additional blog this month…..
For some reason the Cat Stevens tune…. *if you want to sing out, sing out*….. has been coming up in my life. Funny… I am sitting at the airport right now, reading what you’ve written….. and I hear on someone’s ring tone playing….. *if you want to sing out, sing out, and if you want to be free be free….* thinking about you…. your family and all of the people who are finding those little moments in life that bring joy……
John
Thanks Diane – and what a great ringtone!
