Dear Reader,
This post completes our series on truth. We began by inquiring, in a general sense, what is true in life. Next, we looked specifically at what is true for each of us, guided by the question “Is this who I really am?” But any genuine quest for truth leads even deeper, through layers of intellect, belief, and emotion.
If we continue the exploration, we are led into the realm of the soul, where we discover what we love and what we value. Ultimately, we are led even deeper than the soul.
We are led to the place of pure presence within – consciousness itself. Some would call this the spirit within, or God, or love or consciousness. Whatever you call it, this awareness is pure, it is powerful, and it is undivided – one truth.
The one truth is not something you can intellectually comprehend, but something you can only apprehend through direct experience. When you discover it, you know. Even though the experience itself may fade, as all experiences do, you never forget that you had the experience.
If you really open to it, the one truth may well inspire you to change your life forever. You may struggle at first to return to it, but if chosen again and again, it will eventually inform everything you do. When you live from that awareness of one truth, you can more easily stop allowing others to define what is true for you.
In this sense, truth leads to freedom.
You may reach the one truth in many different ways – I reach it through stillness, through movement, through silence and sound – and perhaps most importantly, through doing what I am most deeply guided to do by my intuition. No matter which path you take, all paths lead to the same place, because it is one truth. Not many; not a few – just one.
And to get picky, the word “reach” is probably not the most accurate, because one truth is not “out there” somewhere waiting for you to get to it. One truth is within and everywhere, waiting only for you to realize it or as I said earlier, to apprehend it. One of my favorite definitions of “apprehend” can be found online in the Free Dictionary (once you get past definitions like “to catch a thief”) – “to become conscious of, as through the emotions or senses.” Nice!
One Truth is to be felt, experienced – not thought up, analyzed or conceptualized.
One Truth is the same truth felt by all of us, although we each process and express it differently.
One Truth – Infinite Expressions.
That’s the beauty of life.
I honor your loving heart,
John

Great post John.
If the question “Is this who I really am?” guides us to our individual truth, what question would guide us to the One Truth? I think you read the answer to me last night: it’s “what would love do now?”

“What would love do now?” That’s perfect Louise; thanks!
