Dear Reader,
It is mid-evening here in Shetland, and with the days getting longer there is still a little pink left in the sky. A band of mist partly obscures the island of Bressay across the harbor from us. Something about that mist is gorgeous – perhaps its blueish-gray color, or the way is settles low and clings to the land. I only know that I am drawn to it; my chest softens and my heart opens as I watch it through my window.
Sometimes that’s the way intuition works as well. It is soft, gentle, almost unnoticed at first, clinging to your inner landscape until you notice. Eventually you learn to pay attention. As you do, you relax into it, allow it to inform you.
Sometimes it is simply a feeling of rightness, a sense that “Yes, this is what I want.” At other times, it takes the form of a thought or idea that won’t go away until you recognize its truth. That thought may be the perfect next step, or it may make no sense at all – for now. All you know is that it feels right.
Maybe you wait, continue to pay attention to see if more follows, or maybe you let that whispered thought go – trusting that it will make more sense at some later time.
Maybe you even write it down (hint, hint) to bring it further into your conscious awareness.
One thing is certain, in order to notice that inner voice – you must be willing to open to it.
I honor your loving heart,
John
