Dear Reader,
This post is a follow-up of sorts from my post last week about the singing and dancing a colleague and I have been doing in care centers (nursing homes.) A few days later, a reader gave me a link to the video below. I want to share it with all of you, if you haven’t seen it already.
The video is about a man in a nursing home who was given an ipod loaded with his favorite music from younger days, and the effect is has on him when he listens.
It is beautiful.
We have many ways in this world to experience joy and make meaning that are not based on rational, linear thinking. Whether it is music, dance, visual art, or poetry, the arts reach someplace deep inside us…
Enough. I’ll let the video speak for itself, with a big thank you to the reader who shared it.
I honor your loving heart,
John

THANK YOU for posting this video. My voyage through mid-life is giving me an opportunity, to course correct or rather re-vision and deepen some gifts I have to give to the world . Music ‘s potential to stimulate and
increase the well being of the brain and nervous system of the body is in my opinion HUGE. My desire is to embody a more musical life has been blessed by this post. Thank you John !

Hi Sue Anne – Thank you for your lovely comment! I happen to think the voyage through mid-life is a beautiful one, and potentially very powerful, so I applaud you for exploring your gifts anew. I also love the way you describe your desire: “to embody a more musical life. ” Having a truly inspirational desire is so important. That one sounds perfect for you, and provides a good example for the rest of us!
