Dear Reader,
Did you know that reading a good book can be a great way of accessing your intuition? I love to read anyway, so getting intuitive guidance while I read is a real bonus! Just to be clear, I’m not referring to the information printed on the page. I’m talking about where your mind travels as you read…
I have probably done this in the past without focusing on it consciously. But one of my teachers, Debra Grace, points out that reading can be sacred time, an opportunity to transcend the intellect and access the eternal. She suggests setting this intention and taking notes while reading to fully benefit from the process.
Guess what? This suggestion changed the way I read! I don’t always do it, but often when I read a book related to consciousness, intuition, the mind or any similar topic, I keep a pen and notebook handy. Before Debra’s advice, I sometimes tried underlining in the book, but I rarely went back later. Taking notes, however, actively engages me. I read more slowly, use my imagination more, stop to daydream more… and more often access my intuition as I read.
My guidance might be related to what I am reading – but not necessarily. I might get insight as I read – or it might come later. I’ve learned to keep the notebook close. I take notes on the material I am reading, but often my writing turns to my own ideas, insights and impressions. I record whatever I get, and yes, I do go back to it later.
Try it sometime, dear reader. Pick a book that inspires you (right now I am reading “The Sound of Paper,” a book about writing by Julia Cameron) and set your intention to go into dreamtime as you read. Allow your mind to be receptive. Then, with pen and paper ready – let your intuition loose!
I honor your loving heart,
John

John,
Recently I was looking through books at the Goodwill store. I found all five books by Neal Donald Walsch, and remembered I had read them quite some time ago. I brough them home, and I remember seeing on one of the first pages; “you aren’t reading this book at this moment by accident”. I thought a great deal about that; the way spirit leads you to what you need (not always what we want), at that particular time in your life.
I’ve read them all again, and have scribbled so many notes that I found touched me. Sometimes I just open the book randomly to a page, and it’s always… relelvant.
Remember we talked about Arizona continually coming up in my life. Hannah and Jenny sometimes are near, and say, “Arizona, mum”. The past year I’ve met and become good friends with a woman I work with at the homeless shelter. Unfortunately for her, the city had layoffs this year, and she was one of the people who lost her job. So, she’s moving to… of course! Arizona! I believe strongly this is my opportunity to go there and find, do, see, experience whatever it is that I’m supposed to. I’m so very excited about this! It’s been coming up and coming up for a few years now, and I think finally I’ve been presented with that “whack up side the head” to go.
Stay tuned… 🙂
With love,
Sandi
