Dear Reader,
First of all, thank you for the positive feedback about some of the little stories I have been telling this week! The theme that has emerged is how I recognize my intuition. My hope is that these stories may help you recognize your own intuition more easily.
Often, I recognize an intuitive message as a thought that seems to come from nowhere.
In fact, I usually find myself asking “Where did that come from?!” It is usually a thought unrelated to where I am, what I am doing, or the other thoughts flowing through my mind. And yet – it is very clear, and very noticeable.
Here’s an example.
One afternoon I was in an airport in the Midwest, waiting to catch a flight back to New York City before traveling to Maine to visit my mother. I was relaxed, just watching the crowds, when suddenly I felt a strong sense of sadness, and a feeling of loss about my father, who had died several years ago. It was such a powerful feeling that I started to well up with tears.
My next thought was “Where did that come from?!” I wasn’t thinking about him, any other family member, or anything remotely related. Next, I experienced a feeling that the emotion wasn’t mine – but belonged to my mother. The realization felt right, somewhere deep inside.
I filed the experience in the back of my mind.
The next day, in Maine, I remembered it again while talking with my mother. “Mom,” I asked, “were you thinking about Pop yesterday?” To my surprise, she cried “How did you know?” and burst into tears. She told me she had been thinking about him, missing him and feeling sad the previous afternoon – when I had my experience in the airport. She also said that she hadn’t thought of him much in the days leading up to that episode (I asked her), so it wasn’t as if she thought of him constantly.
Dear reader, do you get thoughts that seem to “come from nowhere?” If you do, it might be wise to pay attention!
I honor your loving heart,
John
